A study of 2005 was saying that total area of forest in the world is estimated around 26% of land area which is 40 million sq. km only. That corresponds to 6200 sq. m forest per capita. Also it has been revealed out that South America have the maximum forest area( almost half of its total land area ) and Asia holds the minimum area of forest( less than 20%). However the following list specifies the top countries with most forest.

% of total land area : 46Russia holds the peak position with 3287243 sq. mile of forest, highest in the world. Russia is dominating the peak position with about one-fifth of the total forests in the world. Though it is bless to our environment, timber industry has an impact on enhancing Russian economy.
