Every country tries to increase its military strength for many aspects. If terrorist activity is a concern to a country, another country increase its potentiality to save its territory. Also some country increase power because of its neighbor country's aggressive policy. However, whatever the reason is , increase of military troops means increase of overall power. # 1 CHINA :
We all know that China is the most populated country (1347 million ) in the world. The People's Liberation Army is the China's military arm. Its military spending is in the 2nd position in the world. China has made the largest military troops in the world. After the age of 18 years , each Chinese man , if needed , compulsorily should join in the army. The territorial conflict with the neighbors is a reason to maintain such a largest army.
# 2 USA :
USA, the third largest populated country has made second biggest army in the world. USA military budget is 682 billion dollar which is about 40 % of world's total military budget. Also USA spend 4.4% of its total GDP , which is only equal with Russia and followed by North Korea (22%) , Saudi Arabia ( 8.9% ) etc. As USA is in target of many terrorist and USA has an important role on establishment of peace all over the world , it has made a large military troop.
# 3 INDIA :
India the 2nd largest country of population( 1241 million ) , made a third largest military troop in the world with its less military budget( $46.1 billion) comparing with the others. India has many internal and external problems. If population , starvation , corruption , political interference is its internal problem , terrorist attack , territorial conflict with neighbors are its external problem and also one of the biggest concerns. Yet as an Asian giant , it is a part to maintain such like troops as India has managed to carry on an observable growth in all areas.
# 4 NORTH KOREA :
When the defense budget of the countries of rest of the world is inbound in 10% ( a round fig. ) , North Korea's military expenditure is about one forth of its total GDP. A decade ago , its military budget was one third of its GDP. Depending on its budget , North Korea has made a large army which is now in 4th position. A war against South Korea and an opposition from USA and S.Korea against its military agenda , perhaps forced to feel them insecure.

After a historic cold war against USA , the Soviet Union broke in late 90's and establish a nation Russia and its military arm was Russian Federation Armed Force. Russia spend $90.7 billion in its military budget followed by USA and China. according to military force it is in fifth position though in case of powerful country , it stands in 2nd position followed by USA.
# 6 TURKEY :
According to last census, the total population of Turkey is around 75,630,000. With this few manpower comparing with some leading populated country , Turkey has made a strong military troop which is now in 6th position in the world. Turkey faced the world war II . Also there was a war against Korea and Turkey faced aggressive policy of Germany. though Turkey signed a Treaty of Friendship and non-aggressive in June 18 , 1941. With a estimated defense budget of $14 billion , Turkey's military formation is obviously significant , as the neighbor countries are gradually increasing their strength.
# 7 S.KOREA :
It is a general trend of each country that when neighbor country increases its strength , without any persistent of economical problem , every country tries to balance power. Its ideal example is N.Korea and S.Korea . S.Korea is now in 7th position according to military troops and its total strength is around 639,000 . But its military budget is around $10 billion which is also 25% as N.Korea has that same scenario. S.Korea is powerful country comparing with N.Korea( according to Power Index) but N.Korea has larger active troop than S.Korea.
# 8 PAKISTAN :
Pakistan is a country which is now unable to develop itself because of some inner problems , among which terrorist activity has already placed as a deepest problem which is now out of control. According to population Pakistan is in 6th position in world. Also Pakistan has made a military troop which is now in 8th position. The relationship with India , terrorist activity etc perhaps the main reasons of the formation of military troop.
# 9 IRAN :
Iran is a biggest concern to its neighbor as well as the leading countries. Iran researching on Nuclear weapons. In past Iran faced wars against Iraq , Israel etc. Now it has formed a military troop which is now in 9th position with total strength of 523,000 ( round fig. ). Its military defense budget is approximately $12 billion but important point is note that Iran is planning of 127% increase in military expenditure.
# 10 EGYPT :
Total population of Egypt is 85,300,000( estimated ). Even defense budget is $4.5 billion ( approximately ). Yet Egypt has made a military troop which manages to take 10th position .Israel like neighbor country when well known as inventor of modern some modern weapon and Egypt went for a war against Israel , Egypt decided to enlarge its military troops.
