It is not easy to find out 'Top Ten' Naval Forces in the world, because every country is trying to increase its strength day by day but it doesn't come in focus unless that country declares officially. It is hard to compare the strength in between two countries or among many countries because irrespective of total manpower, technology and new weapon's strength matters. As new weapon with new technology are invented, it is really hard to bring out the actual list of 'Top Ten' naval forces in the world. Yet a list have been made where priority has been given on 'Total Manpower' and 'Total Ship'.

#1 USA :
The United States of America holds the top position in the list. Officially the naval force of USA is called the United States Navy( USN ) which established in the year 1775. It has total active personnel about 323,500 along with 109,000 reserve personnel. Also 290 ships , 10 aircraft carrier, 12 dock landing ships, 62 destroyers, 70 submarines and many more updated weapons help USA to stand in top of the list.
#2 RUSSIA :
The Russian Navy was established in 1696 but the total period up to today has been divided in three parts.
1. Imperial Russia (1696-1917 ), 2. Soviet Union (1918- 1991), 3. Russian Federation (1992- present). Now total manpower strength of Russia is 142,000. Russia has total 282 ships. Besides that, aircraft carriers, landing ships, cruisers, nuclear attack submarines etc enhance its strength.
#3 CHINA :
The People Liberation Army Navy ( PLAN ) was formed in 1950 whose now total active personnel are 290,000 and 515 ships. Now it has total five branches : i)The People's Liberation Army Navy Submarine Force ii) The People's Liberation Army Navy Surface Force iii) The People's Liberation Army Navy Coastal Defense Force iv) The People Liberation Army Marine Corps v) The People's Liberation Army Naval Air Force.
#4 JAPAN :
The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force ( JMSDF ) is Naval branch of Japan Self-Defense Force. JMSDF consist of about 46,000 active personnel and 114 ships, 339 aircraft. JMSDF established in the year 1952.
#5 UNITED KINGDOM :
The Royal Navy( RN ) , naval force of UK, was considered as the most powerful naval during the period in between 17th century to 19th. But in 16th century it has spread its origin. Now it has about 37,000 active personnel and 97 ships which made UK in 5th position in the list.
#6 FRANCE :
French Navy is considered as one of the oldest Naval Force in the world. Though it has managed the sixth position with 57,550 with reserved and active personnel and 98 ships but it played a great role to increase the French Empire since 17th century.
#7 INDIA :
India Navy also played an important role to make country free from British rule. Officially the Indian navy formed in the year 1947 but it had an existence during British rule as an extended part of Indian Armed Force named the Royal Indian navy. Now India is in 7th position with its total 64,000(approx.) active personnel and 155 total warship. India, the second most populated country in the world, utilizes its naval force not only securing the coastal but also makes good relationship with its neighbor.
#8 N.KOREA :
According to latest stats N.Korea have most total ships( 1,061) in the world. Its total active personnel 46,000. The sensitive relation in between N.Korea and S.Korea perhaps encourage N.Korea to increase such like naval strength.
