To find out the top ten most powerful country , it is important taking consideration of Power Index which varies on country by country and determined by some unique areas of the respective countries. It means , the top ten countries are listed as per their Power Index and 'Power Index' is the parameter to determine powerful countries rank wise.

# 1 USA :
USA is in top position in this ranking with power index point 0.2475. USA defense budget, manpower , updated weapon , naval power , air force all help the country to stand in no 1 position. From the latest report ( 2012 ) it is come to know that total military manpower is about 1.4 million and in case total land system weapon , this country is far more ahead from the others. Also there are total more than 15,000 aircraft which is also a dozen miles ahead from the others. Even there are 15,000 serviceable airports and their defense budget is near about 682 billion dollar. In all areas USA manage to hold the top position . That’s why USA is in the no. 1 position.
# 2 RUSSIA :
After world war II there was a cold war in between Russia and USA. From that time both USA and Russia concentrated to hold the top position in the list. According to power index Russia ( 0.2618 ) is not far more behind of USA . But in some specific areas Russia unable to reach a position like USA. The defense budget of Russia is 90.7 Billion dollar , which is far more behind than USA . But updated aircraft , range of updated ballistic missile enhance the power. Also they have total military manpower is about 1.01 million , powerful land system , about 4,500 aircrafts, 1,200 serviceable airports.
# 3 CHINA :
According to the population , China is in the top position. When the population is going to be the biggest concern in the world , China utilizes it in their development. According to power index China(0.3351) is in 3rd position. Its total military manpower is 2.2 million which is largest military manpower in the world. Also their defense budget is 166 billion dollar which is 2nd biggest defense budget followed by USA. Also they have 5,000 aircraft , strong land system and naval power , 497 serviceable airport. It help China to get the 3rd position.
# 4 INDIA :
India is the 2nd most populated country followed be China. Yet comparing with China, India fails to utilize its population to its development. Though corruption , political interference etc are her biggest concern, India is one of the best fastest growing countries. India is world’s largest importer of military goods . Its defense budget is 46 billion dollar which is in 8th position in the world. However in case of total military troop , India (1.3 million ) is in 3rd position followed by China , USA . Also India has 2,000 aircraft , strong land systems , moderate naval power , 352 serviceable airports.
# 5 UNITED KINGDOM :
UK is one of the richest countries in the world. Its defense budget is 60.8 billion dollar , total military manpower is 0.22 million and land system is more or less comparing with the others. But number of total aircrafts are 1,400 though naval power is not so strong. Number of total serviceable airports are 462. It holds the 5th position with the power index point of 0.5185
# 6 FRANCE :
France, the neighbor country of UK holds about the equal power comparing with UK. Its power index point is 0.6163 . Its defense budget Is 58.9 billion dollar which is in 6th position . Also it has total military manpower of 0.36 million. It has balanced land system , air power ( total aircrafts are 544), naval power . Also there are 473 serviceable airports in France.
# 7 GERMANY :
Germany is also a developed European country whose power index point 0.6491 keeps her in 7th position in this ranking. Like France and UK it also has balanced force in all areas though naval power is not so strong comparing with the others. Yet strong land system , adequate military manpower ( 0.15 million ) , 925 aircrafts , 551 serviceable airport and lots more weapons enhance its power and help to get position no 7.
# 8 SOUTH KOREA :
South Korea is in the 8th position with power index point 0.6547. As North Korea is the biggest concern of South Korea , South Korea have reserved huge military troop ( 3.2 million ) though its active personnel are 0.6 million. Its total land system is even stronger than previous countries. Number of total aircrafts are 851 and serviceable airports are 114 . However strength of naval force is in a avg. value. Its defense budget is not in top ten position.
# 9 ITALY :
Italy ( power index point 0.6838 ) is the country of military goods exporter like USA , RUSSIA , CHINA etc. It maintains its strength in moderate value. Total number of military troops are 0.29 million , an avg. land system power and naval power , number of total aircrafts are 770 while total serviceable airports are 130 . With 34 billion dollar defense budget , Italy is in 10th position in defense budget list.
# 10 BRAZIL :
Since some decades, Brazil is trying to improve the modern military equipment. Besides that according to population , Brazil is in 5th position in the world with 197 million people. So it is considered that in recent future , Brazil is also going to improve their military strength. Now total military manpower is 0.37 million , when total aircrafts are 822 and total serviceable airports are 4,100 which is second highest number of airport followed by USA.
